Counter-Strike: ESWC 2008 Results Roundup

While most eyes were on the main CS 1.6 tournament this week at ESWC 2008, quite a bit more were watching some of the best matches between top competitors from around the world in a large variety of other games.
The 2008 ESWC Grand Finals at NVISION 08 has completed and once again champions have been crowned in the prestigious event. The event had traditionally been held in France but moved this year to the NVIDIA sponsored trade show in San Jose, California. The event encompassed three days of sponsor exhibits, keynote speakers, technical conferences, a live concert, GeForce LAN, a Guinness record breaking non-stop LAN party, the 2008 ESWC Finals and more.
The ESWC event came to a conclusion with several good finals and an awards ceremony crowning the champions. GotFrag was at the event and an overview of the coverage can be found below :

Men's Counter-Strike 1.6

One of the most explosive Counter-Strike tournaments of the year had more than its share of surprises. Nearing the end of the final day of competition, last year's defending victor took on an aggressive Asian team looking to become the first ever champions from the East.

SK's lady division was out to perform on home territory against a barrage of teams from across the globe. Taking on the ESWC original host France's squad, the grand finals had more than just an extra five thousand dollars riding on it.

WarCraft III


Every top player in the world was in attendance for what was easily the most exciting event of 2008. Many of the favorites were knocked out during the group stages, but in the end it was an all Asian final as the up and coming Korean Orc player Du Seop "WhO" Chang solidified his name in the WarCraft 3 scene by defeating the celebrated Chinese champion Xiaofeng "Sky" Li.

The first major TF2 LAN in sometime was a little of the new and a lot of the old, with Team Pandemic showing their dominance over the North America TF2 scene yet again. There was a moment of doubt when the TF2 juggernaunt was knocked to the Lower Bracket by arch-rivals Eximius Sports, but it proved to be nothing more then a blip on the radar as Pandemic stormed back in the Grand Finals, sweeping Eximius twice on cp_gpit to claim the top prize.
