mTw lose whimp

picture
Svendsen became a part of mTw back in February 2008, when mTw brought him in to replace Brian 'hpx' Christensen. Just like Christensen, Svendsen does not have the time and will to practise hours and hours anymore. He thus decided to leave the professional gaming scene behind and focus on other things in his life.

Martin 'Trace' Heldt has been announced as the replacement for the now 21-year-old Svendsen. Heldt was a member of several Danish teams in the past, including Mirror, Spirit of Amiga and ATS.dk. Nevertheless, he has never played in a really strong team like mTw is and is to be seen if he can handle the pressure.

This leaves mTw with the following lineup:

  • flag Danny 'zonic' Sørensen
  • flag Christoffer 'Sunde' Sunde
  • flag Eid 'mJe' Muhamed
  • flag Alexander 'ave' Holdt
  • flag Martin 'Trace' Bang
flag Jonas 'whimp' Svendsen (Backup)

Complexity takes home CEVO title

picture

Variable results keep coming back from the United States, leaving the American Counter-Strike scene without a constant and clear number one team. After being destroyed by Evil Geniuses in ESEA, on de_nuke, with 16-3, just last week, coL was sent in the lower bracket of the CEVO Play-offs, by the same rivals. All that happened only to see Jason Lake's team make a spectacular comeback and claim the number one spot of CEVO's eleventh season.

The third round of the CEVO Play-offs saw complexity and EG clash in the upper bracket. EG assured a place in the grand final with a comfortable 16-10 on de_dust2. Complexity went on in the lower bracket against Loaded, pulling off a strong 16-3, only to face EG again in the finals bracket. The match against Loaded was just the tip of the iceberg as, when nobody expected, complexity pulled off a two maps win against lurppis's crew. The final numbers read 16-9 on de_train and 16-8 on de_inferno.

'Tonight, coL had a defining night of CS, taking out Loaded in the Lower Bracket Finals of the CEVO Season 11 playoffs. However, their shining moment was in the Grand Finals as they took on EG in a best of three series.', stated the official post on coL's webpage."

The play-offs just kicked off yesterday, with the first round taking place on de_nuke. Team Loaded just broke even against Excello, with a score of 16:14, while Turmoil crushed right through Frag Dominant with 16:7.

The Playoffs kick-started on the 17th of September, with final results available on the 23rd of September. The format of the event is single-map, double-elimination, with a best-of-three Grand Championship Final. The map rotation consists of de_nuke, de_inferno, de_dust2, de_tuscan, and de_train. In the final, each team will select one map, and if needed a third different map will be selected by CEVO. As mentioned previously the total prize purse is $7,500, with first place taking home the big slice, $3750.00, second place $2625.00 and third $1125.00.

The full press release:

CHICAGO, Sept. 18, 2009 - SteelSeries, the leading manufacturer of gaming peripherals and accessories, today introduced the new SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset. As the successor to SteelSeries' signature Siberia Headset which launched in 2004, the new Siberia v2 offers gamers and music enthusiast's superior speaker and microphone technology that delivers impeccable sound quality, integrated control capabilities, and enhanced design for greater comfort and improved passive noise reduction.

The original SteelSeries Siberia Full-size Headset became a huge success in the professional gaming community and also extended its reach into the music world being used by professional musicians in several high-profile international music videos.

As an upgrade to the original Siberia, the v2 sports an “invisible" retractable microphone system that pulls out from the left ear-cup, allowing for a more convenient and travel-friendly headset especially for tournament players.

The Siberia v2's increased 50mm speakers will amplify the bass and overall volume as well as improve the frequency response to 10-28,000 Hz. Optimized for professional gaming, where crisp detailed sound can mean the difference between winning or losing, the soundscape features crystal clear high, low, and mid-tones. Tournament players and gamers that battle with loud households will appreciate its new closed ear-cup design which features thick leather padded cushions built from sound dampening foam to increase outside noise isolation, especially important for first-person shooter (FPS) games when footsteps and grenade pin-drops are so important to hear.

“Every element of the Siberia v2 has been optimized for pro-gaming, making this headset a preferred piece of equipment for the world's best competitive PC gamers," said Bruce Hawver, CEO of SteelSeries. “What's even more impressive is that the headset is multifunctional with its ability to deliver an unparalleled audio experience for music lovers and VOIP users."

Key product specifications of the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset include:

  • 50mm speakers
  • Impedance: 32 Ohm
  • Frequency: 10-28,000 Hz
  • SPL@1kHz: 112dB
  • Cable: 1m + 2m extension
  • Jacks: 2* 3.5mm
  • Retractable microphone: 50-16,000 Hz, unidirectional

Along with the new thicker leather ear-cups for sound isolation, the Siberia v2 remains lightweight while its trademark headband suspension construction makes it extremely comfortable for use over long periods of time. The volume regulator, the cord and its base have also been upgraded. The primary cord is shorter in length for optimized use with portable gear and comes with an additional extra cord for use with stationary computers.

The Siberia v2 will be offered in two versions, with and without a USB soundcard. The virtual surround 7.1 soundcard offers a consistent sound experience, ensuring gamers the exact same sound and settings no matter where they are in the world or at what computer they are playing. With the easy to use software provided with the headset, the user can easily customize equalizer settings, profiles and other output settings.

SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset will be available all over the world in November 2009. Pricing will be announced at that time as well..
