ESL EM III: Fnatic versus Lag-blank

Tonight Fnatic will go head-to-head against Lag-blank in the Lower Bracket Final of the Swedish Extreme Masters Season III Qualifier in order to qualify for the Main Round.

Last week Fnatic lost to SK Gaming two games to none in the Upper Bracket Final on de_tuscan and rather surprisingly de_train, despite it being Fnatic's strongest map.

Now the Swede's are in the Lower Bracket Final against Lag-blank, who triumphed over 0E1F23 (now EvilZone) in a tight affair which saw Blank taking the last map 16-14.

Fnatic need to win this map not just to reach the Grand Final of the entire qualifer but to earn a spot in the Main Round so there is no doubt in mind that both teams will pull out all the stocks.

However, should our boys lose, they still have a chance to play in the third season of the Extreme Masters through offline tournaments or direct invitation.

UPDATE: Fnatic beat Lag-blank 2-1 and progress to the Grand Final against SK Gaming.

Its our 61st Independence Day..

Independence Day

Independence Day

"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.... We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again."

- Jawaharlal Nehru (Speech on Indian Independence Day, 1947)

Commemorating the day India attained freedom (15th August); Independence Day is celebrated with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes in the state capitals. The Prime Minister's speech at the Red Fort in Delhi is the major highlight. The Delhi skyline gets dotted with thousands of kites taking to the sky this very day.

On 15 August 1947, India attained freedom from the British rule. Every year, August 15 is celebrated as the Independence Day in India. This national festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country.

The preparations begin a month in advance. Roads are decorated with flags and buntings. Buildings of national importance are illuminated.

Roccat wins WCG Finland

The Finnish World Cyber Games qualifier took place last weekend at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki and was filled with expectation as the most recent acquisition from British organization 4Kings would be there making their first debut with the crown. On site were also the favorites Roccat, which ones ended up winning the tournament, a place at Cologne to defent the Finnish flag and plus 2,500€ in their pockets.

Soltec were the surprise of this year, they managed to secure a place in the playoffs stage and surprised everyone when they beat 4Kings by a clear 16-04 in the groupstage. They easily managed to overcome Elukkaveljekset and book a place in the grand final where they met Roccat as they had just beaten 4Kings by two straight maps.

The final match was a great one to watch, although Roccat easily won the first map by 16-7, Soltec put up a great second map, taking it to overtime but losing and thus only placing second, not enough to take part in the WCG 2008 World Final to be held in the German city of Cologne between November 5-9th.

Final Standings

1. roccat (WCG 2008 slot + 2,500€)
2. Soltec
3. 4Kings
4. Elukkaveljekset
